Setting Up an AS/400 Systems to Use lpd/lpr

When working with the output queue description (WORKOUTQD), there are several
fields that must be defined for the printer to function properly as a remote printer
device. Use the following procedures to do this:

• When prompted for the remote system, type INTNETADR so the AS/400

recognizes the device as an IP device.

• Type PORT1.
• Connection type must be IP.
• Internet address must be the IP address of the printer.
• Destination type must be OTHER.
• When prompted for transforming SCS to ASCII, type YES to allow the AS/400 do

the character translation.

• Manufacturer type and model must be the print driver that goes with your

printer.
