Security menu
You can make the selections listed in the table below on the Security Menu.
Enabling the Supervisor Password field forces you to enter a password to
access Setup. Passwords are not case sensitive.
Security Menu Fields
Field Options Description
Administrator
Password is Clear
Set Status only. Once set, you can disable the
password by setting it to a null string (press
E
NTER
without typing any other characters) or
by clearing the password jumper on the system
board (see “Security add-in” on page 113 ).
User Password is Clear
Set Status only. Once set, you can disable the
password by setting it to a null string or by
clearing the password jumper on the system
board (see “Security add-in” on page 113).
Set Administrative
Password Press Enter When you press the
E
NTER
key, you are
prompted for a password; press the E
SC
key to
cancel. Once set, you can disable the pass-
word by setting it to a null string or by clearing

Password on Boot Disabled
Enabled If enabled and the user password is set, the
system prompts you for a password before the
system boots.
Fixed Disk Boot
Sector Normal
Write Protect Write-protects the boot sector on the hard disk
to protect against viruses.
System Backup
Reminder Disabled
Daily
Weekly
Monthly Displays the system-backup reminder mes-
sage at boot.
Virus Check
Reminder Disabled
Daily
Weekly
Monthly Displays the virus-check reminder message at
boot.
