3. Press the SELECT dial to select the function.
Thereafter you can set the desired value
by turning the SELECT dial again.
4. With the desired value on the LCD dis-
play, press the SELECT button to con-
firm the setting. A beep sounds and the
Espresso Machine switches back to stand-
by mode.
Note:
You can access the main programmable
parameters this way. However, for expe-
rienced users there are some more parame-
ters to adjust to your individual liking. See:
›Advanced Settings‹.
When in program mode, you may switch
back to standby mode any time. Simply press
the MENU button again.

Adjusting the various functions is described
in the following sections.
Programming Shot Volume or Shot
Duration
Note:
The 1 CUP and 2 CUP buttons use duration
to control espresso volume. Access the addi-
tional features (see: ›Advanced Settings‹), if
you wish to use volumetric control instead of
duration to determine espresso volume. See:
›Measurement Method for Extraction (VoL)‹.
In both cases, programming is done in the
same way, as described below.
1. Fill the portafilter using the auto grind,
dose & tamp function. Insert the portafilter
into the group head.
2. Via the MENU button, switch to program
mode.
3. If required, rotate the SELECT dial until
the desired function is shown on the LCD
display: “1 CUP” or “2 CUP”.
4. Press the SELECT dial to start espresso
extraction.
5. When the required espresso volume/
duration has been extracted, press the
SELECT dial to stop the extraction. The
Espresso Machine will beep once to con-
firm the new volume/duration.
