6.0 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS OF THE
MACHINE
This manual is valid for towed atomisers with axial fans for phy-
tosanitary treatments in orchards and vineyards, for various kinds
of tree crops.
It is also valid for cannon atomisers for phytosanitary treatments
of tall stem plants such as poplars or the like.
Axial atomiser are at mixed pulverisation, splitting the drops via
the pressure’s effect and the speed of the air produced by the
fan.
These atomisers manufactured by MASCHIO GASPARDO S.p.A.
are identifiable by the EC plate of page 15.
Since during the early phase of the machine's life there is a gen-
eral settling of all mechanical parts and hydraulic connections, it
is essential that the machine be checked with the utmost care.
• Before using the machine, make sure there are no persons
or animals within its range of action.
• It is strictly forbidden to use the machine with guards partially
or completely removed from their seats.
•
Do not use the machine if you are tired, ill, or under the influ
-
ence of alcohol, medicine or drugs.
• Learn the arrangement of the controls and how they operate
before using the machine. It is therefore advisable to use the
machine in an open and safe area, only using clean water.
• Check the hydraulic oil level in the tank before starting work.
ATTENTION
Make sure that during work all the machine parts and equip-
ment work properly. Keep in mind that most problems and
failures which occur during use of the machine are caused
by loosening of the fasteners.
6.1 WORKSTATIONS
During the spraying phase, the sprayers do not require an opera-
tor standing on the ground and (with the exception of machines
with hose reel and/or hand-held lance), the operator always oper-
ates while inside the tractor cab.
During the filling, mix preparation, calibration and maintenance
operations, the operator works near the machine, standing at
ground level.
If the operator has to work from the ground and the tractor needs
to be kept running, prior to climbing down from the tractor the
operator always has to make sure that:
• The brakes have been properly applied.
• The gear is in neutral.
• The speed of the P.T.O. (if engaged) is suited to the opera-
tions to be carried out.
•
Be very careful with the PTO transmission since loose-fitting
clothing or hanging accessories in particular may get caught
up in it.
• It is mandatory to position the gear selector in neutral if the
machine is equipped with a fan unit. The areas near the
intake and the delivery are very dangerous since foreign
objects can be sucked in or ejected.
• Be careful to avoid getting your hands crushed during all the
operations.
In special cases, it may be necessary to work on parts of the
machine (for routine or extraordinary maintenance) through the
use of platforms, scaffolding, etc.; under these situations, you
need to use a ladder or scaffolding in compliance with safety
standards (certified), positioning it in a stable manner on levelled
and dry ground that can withstand the load (thoroughly check the
solidity of the ground), and with the machine parked with brakes
engaged. Moreover, if the jobs have to be carried out higher
than 1.5 metres, the operator is required to wear a safety har-
ness equipped with a snap-hook to be hooked onto the machine
structure.
