In normal operation, valves V1, V3, and V5 inside the oven cabinet are open. Isolation on/off
block valves V2 and V4 are provided in the oven enclosure to do the sample probe steam-out
procedure, if required. Refer to Section 7.9 for the sample probe steam purge procedure.
3.2
Power Up Procedure
Once all the connections described in Section 2 of this manual have been made, the analyzer
can be powered up. The EPCU operates in Fully Automatic Mode. Once the purge sequence is
successfully completed, power will be applied to the analyzer..
To power up the analyzer, follow the procedure below:
1. Ensure that the control cabinet door is closed and latched fully. Both latches must be
turned to the locked position.
2. Switch on the AC power supply connected to the EPCU.
3. When safe pressure is detected by the EPCU, the rapid purge solenoid valve will be
activated after a 5 second delay. If the EPCU does not detect sufficient flow, a message
to this effect will be displayed on the EPCU screen, the
ENCLOSURE POWER
indicator will remain red, and the
ALARM FAULT
indicator will blink red. If the air flow
through the rapid purge solenoid is sufficient to meet the required flow rate setting, the
RAPID EXCHANGE
indicator will illuminate in blue. The initial purge timer will begin
after 1 minute of rapid purge, and the progress of the initial purge will be indicated as
% COMPLETE
.
4. Once the initial purge is successfully completed, the rapid purge solenoid valve will
close, the RAPID EXCHANGE indicator will extinguish, the
SAFE PRESSURE
indicator will illuminate in blue, and the
ENCLOSURE POWER
indicator will change
colour from red to green. At this point the analyzer will power up.
Once the analyzer is powered up, it will only stay powered up as long as the internal pressure
inside the control cabinet remains above the set safe pressure. If safe pressure is lost due to
loss of instrument air pressure, loss of communication with the purge vent, or opening of the
control cabinet door, a 5 second countdown will be indicated on the EPCU display, at the end
of which the analyzer will automatically shut down. If it is necessary to open the control cabinet
door with the system powered up, the EPCU system needs to be bypassed. Refer to Section
3.3.
If the initial purge cycle cannot be successfully completed and the analyzer powered
on, confirm that the instrument air supply pressure to the analyzer is adequate, the
instrument air flow rate meets the requirements, the control cabinet door is fully
latched, the control cabinet door latches are not loose, and the rubber gasket around
the door frame of the control cabinet is not damaged or displaced.
3.3 EPCU Bypass
In normal operation, the EPCU will cause the analyzer system to automatically shut down when
the control cabinet door is open. However, for certain maintenance procedures it is necessary
to have the control cabinet door open with the analyzer powered on. In these situations, it will
be necessary to bypass the automatic shut down through the EPCU user interface.
