Troubleshooting
“CVA” is displayed.
Problem : The ECG waveform is superimposed on the respiration
waveform. Heart rate is equal to the respiration rate.
Cause : ECG artifact is interfering.
Solution : Change the electrode position where it will not be affected by
ECG artifact.
“RESP LOW” is displayed.
Problem : The amplitude of the respiration waveform is low.
Cause : The amplitude of the respiration waveform is below 0.2

Solution : Change the electrode position so the amplitude will increase.
Respiration is not counted.
Problem : “0” is displayed for the respiration rate.
Cause : The amplitude of the respiration waveform is below the range
of the automatic respiration detection threshold.
Solution : Change the electrode position, or adjust the threshold level on
the manual respiration detection. For automatic detection,
the threshold level can be lowered by increasing the
waveform size on the patient monitor.
CAUTION
Manual QRS detection is effective for low amplitude, but erroneous
detection is likely to occur in the presence of excessive artifacts. It is
recommended to relocate the electrodes and increase the waveform
amplitude before using the Manual QRS detection method.
As respiration detection by impedance method uses the same electrodes
used for ECG, respiration rate may not be properly detected if a “LEAD
OFF” message is displayed or if an electrode condition is unstable.
