Chapter 2 How to Load Documents

Conditions for Mixed Batch Scanning
The following conditions apply when a mixed batch of
documents with different paper weights/friction coefficients/
sizes is scanned.
Make sure to test a few sheets first to check if the mixed batch
of documents can be fed.
For details, refer to
"Documents with Different Widths" (page
Paper Direction
Align the direction of the paper fiber with the feed direction.
Paper Weight (Thickness)
The following paper weights can be used:
27 to 413 g/m
2
(7.2 to 110.6 lb)
Friction Coefficient
It is recommended that the same type of paper from the same
manufacturer should be used.
When papers of different manufacturers/brands are mixed, it affects the
feeding performance as the difference in the friction coefficient
increases.
The following friction coefficients are recommended:
0.35 to 0.60 (reference value for paper friction coefficient)
Document Position
Use paper sizes that fit the 39 mm width of the pick roller in the center.
ATTENTION
The above condition applies when the document is set to the center
of the pick roller width.
When you use detection by overlapping, scanning thick documents
such as plastic cards will be falsely detected as multifeed.
To scan such documents, disable the multifeed window display
function of the scanner driver, the Intelligent Multifeed function, or
the multifeed detection setting. You can also use Manual/Single
mode to scan such documents.
HINT
Accuracy of multifeed detection may drop with some documents.
Multifeed cannot be detected for the top 30 mm of a document.
, you can also specify a
length not to detect multifeeds in the Software Operation Panel.
For details, refer to
"8.6 Settings Related to Multifeed Detection"
