SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE - HOW TO
PROCEED
Drainage of water from the fuel pre-filter
The high risk of refuelling with fuel contaminated by foreign bodies or
water makes it advisable to carry out these checks at each refuelling.
Proceed while the engine is shut down.
Place a container under the filter or pre-filter to collect the fluid.
Unscrew the valve plug (1) located at the bottom of the filter; in
some lay-outs the plug includes a sensor to detect the presence of
water in the diesel.
Drain off liquid until only "diesel" can be seen.
Close the plug again, tightening it completely by hand.
Dispose of the drained fluids according to current requirements.
Drainage/suction of water, condensation and
impurities from the fuel tank/s
Proceed as necessary based on the structure or location of the tank.
Engines that operate in adverse environments and conditions and/or
that are refuelled using drums or jerry cans, require more attention
when cleaning the tank.
Change engine lubricant oil
Proceed only if the engine is not in operation and at low temperature,
in order to prevent the risk of burns.
Place a suitable container for collecting the spent oil under the oil
sump in the area of the lubricant oil drain plug (see the figures in
the ENGINE TECHNICAL DATA chapter).
