Ⅵ. Periodic inspection
2.4.5 Grease or sealant injection
If the leak has not been corrected by flushing, a grease or sealant (hereafter “g/s”) may
need to be added to the valve to temporarily restore sealing. Follow these steps to add g/s to
a valve:
A.)
Purchase g/s from a reputable manufacturer. Verify that the
g/s purchased is
compatible with the valve materials of construction & process media.
Recommended Grease: Kixx Grease EP 00 or equivalent. (Required one (1 oz.)
ounce per inch of valve size in case of emergency seal)
B.) Place the valve in the fully closed position and drain the valve body using the steps
given in section

C.) Remove the cap from the grease zerk, taking care not to unscrew the actual grease
fitting.
D.) Load the g/s into your grease gun.
* Note: Thoroughly familiarize yourself with the workings of your grease gun by reading
the Manufacturer's manual. proper use will help prevent injuries and extend the life of
your grease gun significantly.
E.) Attach the button head grease fitting to the grease zerk on the valve and pump the
g/s into the valve through the grease zerks.
F.) Replace the cap onto the grease zerk once enough g/s has been added.
