Lubrication
Every 10 Hours
1. Lubricate the zerk fittings on auger shaft every 10 hours with a
grease gun.
2. Each time a shear pin is replaced, the auger shaft must also be
greased.
3. Lubricate all pivot points.
Every 25 Hours
1. Lubricate the chute rotation gear with automotive type oil.
Chains (Fig. 24 & 25)
1. Move the speed shift bar to first gear.
2. Remove the gas from the gas tank. Stand the snow thrower up on
the front end of the auger housing.
3. Loosen the bolts on each side of the bottom panel, remove the
bottom panel.
4. Lubricate the chains with a chain type lubricant.
5. Wipe the hex shaft and sprockets with 5W30 motor oil. Make sure
the grease or oil will not come in contact with the disc drive plate or
the friction wheel. Clean off any oil or grease with an alcohol base
solvent.
6. Install the bottom panel.
7. Tighten the bolts on each side of the bottom panel.
Note:
1. Do not lubricate the hex shaft and sprockets. All bearings and
bushings are lifetime lubricated. For storage, put a slight amount of
5W30 motor oil on a cloth and wipe the hex shaft and sprockets to
prevent rust.
2. If grease or oil comes in contact with the disc drive plate or the
friction wheel, the friction wheel can be damaged. Make sure to
thoroughly clean the disc drive plate and the friction wheel.
3. The auger gearbox is lubricated at the factory and does not require
additional lubrication.
Scraper and skid shoes (Fig. 26)
The scraper and skid shoes on the bottom of the auger housing are
subject to wear. They should be checked periodically and replaced
when necessary.
To change the skid shoes:
1. Remove the four carriage bolts and hex flange nuts which secure
them to the auger housing.
