OPERATION

CROSS SLIDE ORANGE

HANDWHEEL

To position the GRINDING HEAD CARRIAGE horizontally, place the ACCU-

POSITIONING GAUGE on the

upper pin. Unlock the ORANGE LOCK HANDLE

on the CROSS SLIDE ASSEMBLY.

Follow the same Steps 1-10 used for vertical positioning except adjust the ORANGE HANDWHEEL. When

complete relock the ORANGE LOCK HANDLE

.

After positioning the GRINDING HEAD CARRIAGE parallel to the

cutting unit in both the vertical and horizontal positions, remove

and store the ACCU-POSITIONING GAUGE. See FIG. 45.

Verify that all LOCK HANDLES ON THE FRONT TOOLING AND

CROSS SLIDE ASSEMBLY

are tight. Your reel is now ready for

grinding.

Press LOCKING TAB on the side of the ACCU- POSITION

GAUGE to release the GAUGE ROD. You may have to

rotate the reel slightly to allow the GAUGE ROD to travel

between the reel blades.

NOTE: It is important to NOT

move or rotate the gauge. Moving the gauge will result

in an incorrect reading.

10.

If the

GREEN LIGHT

appears the GRINDING HEAD

CARRIAGE is positioned correctly. Relock the GREY

LOCK HANDLE and retract the GAUGE ROD. If the

GREEN LIGHT

does not appear, press RECHECK and

repeat steps 1-10.

NOTE: It may be necessary to recheck the positioning, if so,

press RECHECK and move the head back to the left.

FIRMLY HAND TIGHTEN ALL LOCKING KNOBS BEFORE

GRINDING. ANY LOOSENESS WILL ADVERSELY AFFECT

GRINDING QUALITY.
