5.2 914-EX (Preliminary Information)
The 914-EX provides 2 additional 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet channels to the 914-HDE. Diagnostics from this
card are provided to the 914-HDE and are available to the Model 914 Diagnostic GUI. The bandwidth
requirements of this card are system dependent. It is recommended to allocate the maximum bandwidth of the
link(s): 100 Mb/s for fast Ethernet, and 1000 Mb/s for gigabit Ethernet, per port. Configuration of the Ethernet
port negotiation settings is available through the Model 914 Diagnostic GUI. This expansion card requires 2
medium speed expansion channels.
5.3 914-DX (Preliminary Information)
The 914-DX provides 6 channels of isolated serial data. The serial channels are isolated in pairs and can each
be individually configured for RS-232, RS-485 or RS-422. The 914-DX does not require additional bandwidth
from the 914-HDE as it is already included with the standard 914-HDE bandwidth calculation. Diagnostics from
this card are provided to the 914-HDE and is available to the Model 914 Diagnostic GUI. This expansion card
requires 1 low speed expansion channel.
5.4 Custom
The 914-HDE expansion connector has a generic interface ready for new expansion cards. Please contact
Focal Technologies to discuss custom applications and how they could fit with the Focal Model 914 family of
products.
