4.2.2 Replacing the roller bearing cartridges
• Remove the threaded pins from the side of the slide.
Warning
The threaded pins are locked with Loctite 243 and can be damaged if not
handled with care. If the internal hexagon is damaged (cam-out), it may still
be possible to unscrew the threaded pin by using a hexalobular (Torx) screw-
driver. Otherwise the threaded pin will need to be drilled out.
• Remove the eight socket head screws that secure the roller bearing car-
tridges to the slide.
Note
The screws can be loosened by tapping them gently on the head using a
punch the same thickness as the screw head diameter and a hammer.
• Remove the roller bearing cartridges from the slide.
• Recut the tapped holes for the threaded pins on the side of the slide using
a tapping drill (M3) to remove the residue of the locking agent.
Note
Make sure that the stop side (arrows) and the mounting surface of the slide
do not exhibit any surface defects (burrs, chips, kinks, etc.) as flawless bear-
ing and stop surfaces are required for the roller bearing cartridges.
• Insert four new roller bearing cartridges into the slide. The black edge at
the ends of the roller bearing cartridges must be facing downwards.
• Apply Loctite 243 to the screws of the roller bearing cartridges and screw
these in fully (do not tighten; the roller bearing cartridges still have to have
some freedom of movement).
• Push the slide with the preassembled roller bearing cartridges carefully
onto the removed guide rail. Make sure that no bearings come out of the
roller bearing cartridges during this process.
Note
Bearings that have come out of the roller bearing cartridges must be re-
placed in the corresponding bearing.
