Straight Through DTE to DCE Cable:

This illustration shows the pin assignments for

the straight through DTE to DCE cable used with a modem (P/N 043237S). If you find
that you are losing data, you may need to isolate the chassis ground from one of the
two devices by connecting it to the shield.

Note:

The metal backshell is connected directly to the shield to achieve

electrostatic discharge (ESD) immunity.
