Chapter 8: Use a Scan Project in SCENE
SCENE is the FARO software that you can use to work with your scans. In SCENE, you can measure
distances and areas, add annotations, view the project with Virtual Reality equipment, etc. You can also
export the data to SCENE WebShare Cloud, and to many other file formats. You can create meshes
which can be used to print 3D models of parts of your scan. Use the instructions below to import your
projects into SCENE.
NOTE:
SCENE is a complex and flexible application that provides you with many ways to manipulate
your scan data. This document explains how to transfer your scan project to SCENE, but does
not provide more information about how to use the program. Make sure to read the SCENE
documentation carefully. Videos and Training materials are also available at the FARO
Knowledge Base (

) to help you
become a SCENE expert.
(Optional) Export the Project to a USB Flash Drive
Process the project before you export the project.
1. Insert USB flash drive in the Mobile PC.
2. From the projects view, tap
Select
.
3. Tap the project you want to export to select it.
4. Tap
Export
. The project will be exported to the USB flash drive as
/Exported_Projects/ProjectName
Import and Open a Scan Project
1. Insert the USB flash drive that contains the scan project into the computer where you have installed
SCENE.
2. Open SCENE.
3. Click
Create Project
and create a new project.
4. Click the
Import
tab.
5. Click
Import Projects
.
6. Navigate to the USB flash drive and locate your project under
/Exported_Projects/.
7. Open the *.lsproj file. The scan project will import into SCENE.
Processing
When the project import is complete, select the Processing tab.
