668 Upper Gearbox

Figure 181

Check the gearbox oil level every 50 hours or weekly.

Remove the fill / drain plug (Item 1)

[Figure 181]

from the

gearbox. Oil level should be at the bottom of the plug
hole.

If the oil level is low, add SAE 80W-90 gear oil until the oil
is at the bottom of the hole.

Changing Gear Oil

Remove the fill / drain plug (Item 1)

[Figure 181]

and

siphon all the gear oil from the gearbox.

Fill with SAE 90 gear oil (18 oz. capacity) to the bottom of
the plug hole. Install fill / side plug.

968 Lower Gearbox

Check the gearbox oil level every 50 hours or weekly.

Remove the fill / drain plug (Item 1)

from the

gearbox. Oil level should be at the bottom of the plug
hole.

If the oil level is low, add SAE 80W-90 synthetic gear oil
until the oil is at the bottom of the hole.

Changing Gear Oil

Remove the fill / drain plug (Item 1)

and

siphon all the gear oil from the gearbox.

Fill with SAE 80W-90 synthetic gear oil (192 oz. capacity)
to the bottom of the plug hole. Install fill / side plug.

Cleaning And Inspection

NOTE: Inspect the driveline components, replace all

damaged or worn components.

Use solvent to clean the shaft and tube. Use compressed
air to dry and remove excess solvent from the parts.

Apply a light coat of grease to the shaft and the tube end.

Use solvent to clean the slide collars, yokes, crosses and
bearings. Use compressed air to dry the parts.

Apply a light coat of grease to the inside of the slide
collars.
