CONTROLS AND PARTS
RECEPTION OF THE TIME SIGNAL
The reception attempt for the daily automatic synchronisation with the radio clock
time signal is done at 3:00 AM. If this attempt fails, a new attempt is made at 4:00
and at 5:00. One successful reception per day is suffi cient to keep the deviation to
less than one second.
In Germany, the DCF signal is encoded and
transmitted via a DCF transmitter in Main-
fl ingen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is
up to 1,500 km and, under ideal reception
conditions, and even up to 2,000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes
the precise time (theoretical deviation of 1 sec-
ond in a million years!) and the date.
Naturally, this also eliminates the hassle
of manually setting summer and winter times.
The watch is preset to the DCF time signal out of the package, but other time signals
can be set (for this, see "Manual time setting and setting the time zone" further
down in these instructions).
If your watch does not display the correct time after delivery, the reception of the
time signal has to be triggered manually.
Manual Reception Mode
-
Press the push-button (A) with a pointed object, for more than 2 seconds.
-
In the display (C), the reception signal appears, and below it a signal strength
indicator.
-
Position the watch such that the signal strength indicator shows the greatest
possible number of segments.
-
After a successful reception of the time signal, the hands set themselves auto-
matically to the current time and the reception signal remains in the display (C).
-
If the hands set themselves to an incorrect time, please proceed as described
under "Positioning the hands".
The manual reception attempt can be interrupted by pressing the push-
button (A) once more (press and hold 2 seconds).
The detection of the time signal and its evaluation can last a few minutes.
Do not move the clock, during this time. Do not press any buttons!
Bad reception can occur, for example, by metallised insulated glass, rein-
forced concrete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic
devices, or installation in cellars.
If the reception symbol in the display (C) disappears after the reception
attempt, change the reception location for the watch and restart the recep-
tion attempt, as described above.
Positioning the hands
If the hands do not run exactly to the current time position when you make a recep-
tion attempt, you must position the hands manually.
-
Press the push-button (B) with a pointed object, for more than 5 seconds.
-
The hands run to the 12:00 clock position, and the indicator in the display (C)
fl ashes 00:00.
-
If the hands run to a different position, press the push-button (A). The hands
can now be moved manually. If you press briefl y, the hands are moved stepwise.
If you press a little longer, the hands begin to run automatically, which you can
stop by pressing (A) again.
-
When the hands have reached the 12:00 position, press the push-button (B)
briefl y.
-
The watch now starts a reception attempt.
-
The watch automatically sets itself to the correct time after successful recep-
tion.
