HOW TO MAINTAIN

(continued)

NOTE: Turn off the switch and unplug the electrical cord before emptying

dust cup. Never operate the vacuum cleaner without the dust cup
and filters properly installed.

Emptying the Dust Cup:

It is clearly visible when the dust cup is full and needs emptying. Do not fill
above the maximum fill line on dust cup.

Remove dust cup from cleaner body, pull filter screen up and out of dust cup
and dump debris in a waste container.

Before reassembling the dust cup, clean the filter screen with a brush or rinse with clear water. It must
be thoroughly dry before reinstalling. Alignment features (circled above) on filter screen and dust cup
must be in position to reinstall. Filter screen will fit snugly in dust cup when properly installed.

FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO REMOVE AND
REPLACE THE DUST CUP FROM THE CLEANER
BODY, SEE THE PREVIOUS PAGE.

To Replace Pre-Motor Tube Filter

5.

Slide the completely dry filter back up into the filter
tube. The yellow ring should fit snugly into the clear filter
tube.

 6. Place the bottom of the filter tube in the filter tube retainer

on dust cup platform, then push filter tube against the
base until it snaps into place. Make sure the seals in
the top of the dust cup compartment line up with both
the filter tube and dust cup.

 7. Slide the dust cup lever to the right to the engage

position. This will raise the dust cup platform and secure
the filter tube and dust cup.

 Use replacement motor filter, 71643.

Cleaning and Replacing Filters
Pre-Motor Tube Filter

Check the pre-motor filter each time the dust cup is emptied. The pre-motor filter removes the smallest dust paticles. Clean
or replace as needed to maintain maximum performance. Never operate without motor filter in place. Do not place the
filter frame, dust cup or pre-motor filter in a dishwasher.

To Clean Pre-Motor Tube Filter

1. When facing the cleaner, slide the dust cup lever to the

left to the release position. The dust cup platform will
drop down releasing the filter tube.

2. Remove filter tube from dust cup platform by pulling out

and lifting up at the top.

3. Grasp the yellow handle in the bottom of the filter and

pull down out of filter tube. A twisting motion may help.

4. The filter can be cleaned by vacuuming with another

cleaner or can be rinsed under running tap water and
air dried. Filter must be thoroughly dry before using.
