Page Formatting
T h e LX - SO p rint e r ha s many sophisticated commands to se t mar-
gins, line spac ing , and horizontal and vertical tabs. Mo s t of these
functions are duplicated by applications programs which u se th em in
calculatio n s f or the layout you have specified in the progr a m . This
c h ap t er descr ib es a few commands that the average u se r might
need. If you wa nt more information , you can find all the c o m mands
in Appendices B a nd C .
T op o f Page and Page Length
When you are printing a long docum e nt using continuou s p aper it is
important to make the individual pages of the docum ent fit
correctly on ea ch page . If the paper is not set in the printer correctly,
the pages wil l start being printed in the centre of one of the s h eets of
paper, t h e mi ddl e will be on the perforation , and the end wi ll be in
the middle of the n e xt s heet . When you switch the print er on, it
assumes that th e paper i s in the correct position at the t o p of the
page. Conse quentl y if y ou move th e paper using the p aper feed
knob, the pri nt e r (or inde e d y our applications softwar e) does not
know this has h a ppen e d a nd gets out of step with the a ctu al top of
