tice. If your computer system does not include BASIC or if yo u
would rather not use it, use another means of printing some t ext
from your computer such as using a short word processor file .
To u s e BASIC, type the short BASIC program listed below :
10 LPRINT "This is a sample program. "
20 LPRINT "Notice the size ";
30 LPRINT " and darkness of the print. "
Next , print a listing of the program using LLIST or the compu ter
s ys tem ' s print listing command. The LX-80 prints the program in
ordinar y single-strike pica, as illustrated below in our sam ple
progr a m .

Now th a t y ou have a sample program to list or some text to p r i n t
out , follow these simple steps to print it in condensed mode :
1) Se e that both the ON LINE and READY lights are on .
2) Press the ON LINE and FF buttons at the same time . The L X-80
will be e p to signal that SelecType is on.
3) As y ou can see in Table 2-2, the code for condensed is f o u r .
Th e refore , press the ON LINE button four times. (Rem e m ber
that you hear a beep each time you press the ON LINE butt on
when you are in SelecType mode.)
4) Now that you have selected condensed, press the FF button on ce
to set that mode .
5) Press the LF button once to return the panel buttons to th eir
standard functions.
