2.1.3 Print Process Technical Explanation

2.1.3.1 Electrification

The surface of the drum turning at a certain speed is uniformly electrified with a
negative charge by discharging the BCR (Bias Charge Roll) inside the DRUM
CARTRIDGE.

The BCR is constantly in contact with the drum and turns together with the
drum. The BCR is a conductive roll that receives a supply of discharge
voltage from the HVPS, and discharges by negative DC voltage combined
with AC voltage. BCR discharge is carried out in minute intervals near
where contact is made with the drum. The drum surface is provided with a
uniform negative charge by DC bias voltage. The drum surface is a
photoconductor (insulator in the dark, and conductor when light is
received), and the inside of the drum consists of a conductive material
(aluminum cylinder).
