3.1.1.2 Remedies for the Paper Jam Error

Check for problems in the order listed below to troubleshoot the Paper
Jam error when it occurs constantly during paper feeding or after the
printer is turned on.

NOTE: If you answer “Yes” to a question listed under “Problem,” take

the action described to the right under “Solution.” If “No,”
proceed to the next step.

Explain to the user that the Paper Jam error
occurs if paper is used whose length is beyond
the specifications.

Is the encoder sensor
located at the back of
the CR covered with
dust?

Check if there is any dust or paper debris lodged
in the encoder sensor (a photo sensor) located at
the back of the carriage.

Is the encoder belt
nearly dislocated from
the encoder?

Referring to the illustration above, make sure the
encoder belt passed throught the slot in the
encoder sensor.

4

Is the PE sensor always
on because of paper
debris or dust
accumulated over the
sensor.

Viewing the PE sensor from the front, check that
the actuator is in the correct position: when paper
is not in the way, the actuator falls into the cutout.
