The Wet and Dry
Grinder
is a combination machine for
coarse and fine grinding ope-
rations. To get the best out of
your machine, please obser-
ve the following directions:
1. Fill the water tank with
normal tap w/ater up to
the shaft centreline.
2. Install the supports.
3. Perform a trial run.
Impor
tant:
The machine is equipped
with a dry wheel aand a wet
wheel. Take care to ensure
that coarse grinding is always
carried out on the dry wheel
and fine grinding on the wet
wheel. Application of the
workpiece to the wheel under
light pressure is sufficient.
The grinder was primarily de-
veloped for the processing
and sharpening of knives,
scisors, chisels and all kinds
of tools with a cutting edge.
Saf
ety Instructions
1. Always wear protective
goggles when using the
machine.
2. Before use, subject the
grinding wheels to a rea-
sonance check (when
tapped with a plastic mal-
let, grinding wheels in so-
and condition give out a
clearringingsound). This
equally necessary when
new grinding wheels are
installed as an assurance
against transit damage.
The machine must be gi-
ven a test run without
load fot at least five minu-
tes. During this time, no-
one should stand within
the danger area.
3. Only grinding wheels may
be used which carry parti-
culars specifying the ma-
nufacturer, type of bon-
ding, dimensions and
permitted maximum rotary
speed.
4. Grinding wheels should
be stored in an dry place
and at as constant a tem-
perature as possible.
5. Only the mounting flanges
supplied with the machine
must be used to secure
the grinding wheels.
6. Grinding wheels must
only be secured with flan-
gers of identical size and
shape. The liners bet-
ween flanges and grin-
ding wheel must be com-
posed of resilient material
such as rubber soft card-
board etc.
7. The central mounting
aperture of grinding
wheels must not be bored
out retrospectively.
8. The workpiece supports
and adjustable upper
guards must always be
postitioned as near as
possible to the grinding
wheels.
9. Grinding wheels must not
be used without guards.
The following gaps must
not be exceeded:
– workpiece support/grin-
ding wheel: max. 3 mm
– guard/grinding wheel:
max. 5 mm
10. Before using the grinding
machine, make sure the
guard holder, workpiece
supports and sight glass
are properly secured.
11. Unplug from power supply
before changing grinding
wheels.
12. The maximum peripheral
speed of the dry wheel is:
NTS 2000-m =
23,15 m/s
Calculation:
peripheral speed
m/s = d x 3,14 x n
60 x 1000
d = diameter of grinding
wheel in mm
n = motor speed in rpn
example:
m/s =
150 x 3,14 x 2950
60 x 1000
= 23,15
13. When filling water reser-
voir, do NOT spill water
on motor.
14. Maximum permissible
motor casing temperature
=80° C
15. To ensure positive grin-
ding, it is advisable to
clamp the grinding firmly
in position.
