Installation and cabling
5.1
Before you start
CAUTION
Read and understand this manual before installing the system. Not doing this could
lead to system misuse and wrong installation, which could lead to warranty violation
and severe product damage. This could also lead to unnecessary hazards, poten
-
tially exposing the installer to electric shocks, injuries and death.
5.2
Install the xStorage Compact unit
1.
Install the unit to the installation location. For instructions, refer to Section 4.3 Unpack the xStorage
Compact system.
2.
Install the battery packs. For instructions, refer to Section 5.3 Install battery packs.
3. Connect the DC and AC cables to the respective terminal blocks inside the xStorage Compact. For
information on the terminals, refer to Section 5.4 AC and DC cabling of the energy storage system.
4.
Connect the CAN cables and other interface connections. For instructions, refer to Section 5.6 Com
-
munication interface connections.
5.3
Install battery packs
MANDATORY ACTION
Take the following precautions when working on or around batteries: Remove
watches, rings, or other metal objects.
Use tools with insulated handles. Wear rubber gloves and boots.
Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of batteries or battery cabinets.
Before connecting or disconnecting a terminal, disconnect the charging source.
Make sure that the battery has not been inadvertently grounded. If it has, remove
the source of the ground. Contact with any part of a grounded battery can result in
an electrical shock. The likelihood of such a shock is reduced if such grounds are
removed during installation and maintenance.
Dispose of the batteries according to your local codes for disposal requirements.

5 battery packs (one primary battery pack + 4 battery packs) of 72 kg - 74 kg each are installed into
the xStorage Compact unit.
•
Up to 10 battery packs (one primary battery pack + 4 or 9 battery packs) of 72 kg - 74 kg each can
be installed into the external battery rack.
•
An adequate machine lifter is needed to lift the battery packs into the rack. The width of the lifting
table must be <1 m so that it can be moved in and out of the room/container with the battery pack
on board.
