8.5 Important message over alarm
During Emergency speech broadcasts the Sonix PA/
GA system can ‘mix’ the active alarm tone, at a reduced
volume, into the speech audio to provide confirmation
that the alarm is still active. The volume of the alarm
tone is approximate 12dB down on the current Alarm
Attenuate volume.
8.6 Enabled Zones
Zones 1 – 12 can be individually disabled to prevent
broadcast into these zones.

Zones 13-30 are not available to be disabled and are permanently
enabled in 2Mx firmware, this can be changed with customization if
required.
8.7 Health monitoring
The Sonix 2Mx comes with a set of health monitoring
tools as standard.
8.7.1 Data monitoring
Each of the Bus loops can be monitored for data
integrity and unit presence. A warning will be raised if a
bus stops being a complete loop (see 6.1.8 Local Status
indicators).
8.7.2 Missing unit monitoring
If a unit which has been previous communicating with
the 2Mx is no longer ‘visible’, the 2Mx will raise a
missing unit fault (see 6.1.8 Local Status indicators).
If this is an invalid fault due, for example to a unit’s ID
being changed as part of a configuration update, then
the fault can be cleared; see 6.1.14 Missing unit reset.
8.7.3 Audio monitoring
During system idle periods, the Sonix 2Mx transmits
low level audio (DTMF tones) around the audio pathways
of the system and monitors for the audio returning. A
warning will be raised if a bus stops being a complete
loop for audio (see 6.1.8 Local Status indicators).

Hmi Bus connected units (access panels) are partly wired in
spurs, they also monitor DTMF in idle but signal loss of idle signals by
isolating the idle bus audio. This causes an Hmi audio fault indication.
8.7.4 Unit monitoring
Unit replies are monitored for equipment faults and,
if seen, a general bus equipment fault is generated
by the 2Mx. Certain faults raised by units are NOT
incorporated, these are any fault related to bus faults as
they are reported through mechanisms internal the 2Mx
instead.
8.8 Global Sense test
The Sonix 350-d amplifiers have been designed to
execute a loop test on the field cabling (see 350-
d Manual). This test can be manually initiated from
individual amplifiers, but it is typical to use the automatic
timed testing driven from the Sonix 2Mx central
controller.
The global sense test request is sent automatically
every 30 / 60 / 120 / 300 seconds or can be disabled
completely.
For more details see SAS manual.

Testing only occurs during idle periods and is ‘queued’ if system
is busy after the timeout has ended
8.9 Access panel timeout
Access panel timeout is used to prevent a single access
panel from utilising the system without break.
Warning:
Access panel timeout should be
matched to the settings used on the actual
access panels.
8.10 IO Audio timeout
IO Audio timeout is used to prevent an audio source
from the Sonix Io unit from utilising the system without
a break.

BGM overrides this setting for the Sonix Io Aux input to indefi-
nitely, it is still respected for the Sonix Io Pbx input.
