Load shedding during Over-current condition
If the battery charge current is greater than 5A disconnect the battery.
If the input current is still greater then 55A for a further 10s then turn off the non-priority loads.
If the input current is still greater then 55A for a further 10s turn off the priority loads.
If Auto retry is enabled in the configuration then after the Retry interval the EFX48 will attempt
to reconnect any strings and loads that were previously disconnected.
The retry process will keep repeating until the number of retries have been reached.
Once the strings and loads are fully reconnected and the input current is less than 55A for more
than 60s the retry counter shall be reset and the alarm cancelled.
If the input current is exceeded while the EFX48 is already partially off due to input overcurrent
condition then the system over current process is run again (leaving already turned off
outputs/strings off) and the auto retry timer is re-started.
The retry timer will start from when the overcurrent is detected.
The overcurrent state and Overcurrent alarm are not persistent and can also be reset by turning
off all outputs and strings for greater than 10s.
Over temperature function
The EFX48 contains an internal temperature sensor which is used to limit the internal
temperature rise under abnormal operating conditions.
The EFX48 has an internal cooling fan that turns on when the internal temperature is greater
than 95
°
C for 1 minute and turns off when the internal temperature reduces below 75
°
C for
more than 1 minute.
The internal temperature sensor is also used to control load outputs in the event of extreme over
temperature conditions. There are 3 over-temperature thresholds resulting in 3 stages of action
to reduce power dissipation.

Priority and Non-priority loads
Loads should be designated as ‘Priority’ or ‘Non-priority’ during system design and these
settings applied appropriately to the loads in the configuration file.
A Priority load is a critical load that must be powered at all times if possible.
A Non-priority load is a load that may be sacrificed under abnormal operating conditions in
order to provide power to the Priority loads.
Abnormal operating conditions include :
•
AC failure
