Digital inputs
– These inputs are
always used for digital inputs points. A
dry-contact is placed between the input
point and the common on the connector
(The wetting voltage is approximately
24VDC). Digital inputs may be connected
through terminal on the 7X chassis to an
SOC. Some application specific control-
lers also have auxiliary digital inputs on
the controller low voltage connectors.
The input can be defined at start up as a
variety of maintained and momentary
contact configurations. One special use
for these inputs is a counter function.
This function can be used for a variety
of metering of utilities such as gas and
water. It can also be used for a cycle
count for the number of times a freezer
door is opened or the number of
customers entering doors in a retail
facility.
