5. Insert the end of the thread through thread guide 1
12
(from right to left)
(see
Fig. 5
).
6. Pull the thread from above down through the two discs of the tension regulator
for the upper thread
11
and guide it through thread guide 2
9
.
7. Pull the thread through the thread guide in the thread take-up (from right to left),
then through thread guide 3
26
(from top to bottom), and then finally through
the thread guide eyelet
24
(from top to bottom) above the needle.

8. Insert the end of the thread through the eye of the needle (left to right). You can
also use the needle threader
5
if necessary (see chapter “Using the needle
threader”) (see
Fig. 6
).
9. Lift the presser foot lever
28
until it clicks into place. Then place the thread in the
presser foot gap
21
.
10. Pull approx. 4" (10 cm) of thread through the gap and place it behind the sewing
machine so that the end of the thread points away from you.
• In addition to the bobbin holder, the sewing machine has a
spool pin
10
for the alternative use of commercially available
spools of thread as upper thread. Using the spools of thread is
similar to using bobbins. To do so, extend the spool pin all the
way out and place a spool of thread on it. Threading works the
same way as when using bobbins.
• For a three-thread seam (two upper threads and one lower
thread), use both holders at the same time. The spool pin’s
thread will be threaded together with the bobbin holder’s
thread.
