NORMAL OPERATING SPEED

Economical level flight speed......................................... 150 km/h ................ 81 kts

Minimum speed on auto-rotation final (flare) : Vpm = 110 km/h - 60 kts
EXCEPT DURING TRAINING WITH AN INSTRUCTOR, ONLY THE PILOT HANDLES THE
CONTROLS. IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER SIDE CYCLIC STICK AND
THE PEDALS SHOULD NOT BE TOUCHED.
4.2.
PRE-FLIGHT INSPECTIONS AND CHECKS
Takeoff area and environment
1. Clothing, rags and other polluting items. Nothing likely to fly into the rotors.
2. No human or animal presence at less than 20m.
3. Wind speed and direction.
4. No obstacles, takeoff flight path clear.
Airframe
1. Remove parking strap on rear facing main rotor blade.
2. Undercarriage : wheels removed or, failing that, locked.
3. Fuel tanks : check fuel level equal on both sides + check fuel tank caps closed.
4. Radiator and fans : check for grass or debris.
5. Check underside of engine, main transmission and generally on the ground under the
helicopter for signs of leaked oil, fuel, or coolant.
6. Check pitot correctly aligned forward.
7. Drive belts, correctly in position.
8. Blades : check full length.
9. Tail assembly : no foreign objects deposited there.
10. Rear transmission : check for leaks, oil level.
11. Rear rotor blades: appearance.
Inside cabin
12. No smell of fuel.
13. Pedals : control rods straight – split pin rod connectors vertical.
14. No loose objects.
15. Empty seat : seat belt fastened, not tangled in collective.
16. Passenger side door closed.
17. Instrument panel – check the zeros.
18. Controls free + full movement of controls.
19. Check that left hand collective in lower stop position brings central collective to lower
stop (guarantee for autorotation).
20. Throttle in idle position.
