What is the Q-Node going to placed in and how will it be powered?
The Q-Nodes are open pcb controllers. Installers will need to consider several items when
installing them:
1.
Enclosure
– What will the Q-Node be installed in?
2.
Power
– The Q-Node requires 12 VDC @ 300 milliamps
3.
Battery backup
– If required should be included in the power supply
4.
Tamper switch
– Optional signal.
The Q-Nodes can be special purchased with an enclosure and power supply if required.

Transient Protection
The modules are designed to withstand up to 2000V transients on the Buss inputs. For
transients that are longer than a few microseconds, the system relies on the ability of the
control panel to absorb and limit the transients. It is important to have an excellent earth
ground connection to the control panel. The transponders are designed to be co-located with
the inputs that they monitor. For this reason, the “back side” of the transponder should be
connected using very short wires to the contact/input being monitored . In areas that are
prone to static discharge or recurring high-energy transients, we recommend mounting the Q-
Mux module in the same metal box as the contact.
In applications where there is the possibility of transients being applied to the back-wires of
the transponders (e.g. the green and orange or blue and orange wires), some additional
protection can be added through an external Transorb.
