Set-Up and First Steps
Introduction
This chapter covers the following topics:
• Installing the LANcity
®
Subscriber Utility (LCS) on a PC
• Setting up LCS user accounts
• Connecting a PC to the ChannelWorks Bridge serial port
• Understanding user access levels
• Reading the ChannelWorks Bridge parameters
• Verifying the ChannelWorks Bridge parameters
• Modifying and loading the ChannelWorks Bridge parameters
To perform the functions described in this section, you will need:
• PC capable of running Microsoft Windows, with a 3.5-in floppy drive and an avail-
able serial port
• Windows
®
version 3.1
• A nine-pin null modem cable
• A terminal emulator application such as Procomm
®
Plus for Windows or Win-
dows’ Terminal
You must be familiar with Windows applications and the operation of a PC.
The following sections describe how to verify the ChannelWorks Bridge parameters
and modify the bridge’s parameters using LCS.
