When t est ing a w ireless link , Digi suggests creat ing t he link using the follow ing com ponent s:

XStr eam - PKG- E Et her net RF Modem ( connected t o a local net wor k )
•
XSt ream - PKG- R RS- 232/ 485 RF Modem ( w / loopback adapter )
•
PC ( connect ed t o a local net work )
•
Accessor ies ( Loopback adapt er , CAT5 UTP cable, pow er supplies and RPSMA ant ennas)
H a r dw a r e Se t u p:
1.
Connect the XStr eam - PKG- E ( Et her net ) RF Modem and a PC t o act ive Et her net por t s of t he
sam e local net work using CAT5 cables ( included w / PKG- EA accessor ies pack age) .
2.
At t ach t he ser ial loopback adapter to t he DB- 9 ser ial connector of t he XStream - PKG- R ( RS-
232) RF Modem . The ser ial loopback adapt er configures t he PKG- R RF Modem to funct ion as
a r epeat er by looping ser ial dat a back int o t he m odem for r etr ansm ission.

Configur e t he PKG- R ( RS- 232) RF Modem for RS- 232 oper at ion using
t he built - in DI P Sw itch. Dip Sw it ch 1 should be ON ( up) and t he
r em aining sw it ches should be OFF ( dow n) .

At t ach RPSMA ant ennas to both RF Modem s.

Sect ion 5.5 – Range Test Tool of t he XCTU User’s Guide for det ailed instr uct ions on how to
conduct a r ange test using XCTU.
