RF Modem Operation
An on- boar d RF m odule enables t he XStr eam - PKG- E RF Modem to send and receive dat a over -
t he- air . The RF m odule oper at es in fiv e m odes.

3 .1 . I dle M ode
When not r eceiv ing or tr ansm it t ing dat a, t he m odule is in I dle Mode. The m odule uses t he sam e
am ount of power in I dle Mode as it does in Receive Mode.
The m odem shifts into t he ot her m odes of oper at ion under the follow ing condit ions:

Ser ial dat a is receiv ed in t he DI Buffer ( Tr ansm it Mode)
•
Valid RF dat a is r eceiv ed t hr ough t he ant enna ( Receiv e Mode)
•
Com m and Mode Sequence is issued ( Com m and Mode)
•
Sleep Mode condit ion is m et ( Sleep Mode)
Aft er r esponding t o any of t he preceding condit ions, t he m odem aut om at ically t ransit ions back
int o I dle Mode.
