Serial port connections
TTL serial port.
The dS378 has two serial port headers, 1 and
2 in dScript.
Pin 1 is marked on the PCB.
Tx and Rx operates at 3.3v levels, however
the Rx input is 5v tolerant. Most 5v TTL level
serial ports will accept a full 3.3v input
ensuring the port is compatible with most 5v
devices such as the LCD05 display modules.
That is the reason 5v (rather than 3.3v) is
available on pin1 to power external modules.
RS485 serial port.
Referred to as serial port 3 in dScript.
The 12v power is not part of the RS485
specification, it is there to provide convenient
power for any 12v sensors you may wish to
connect such as our SRF485 ultrasonic
rangers.
Connections for the RS485 port are also
clearly labeled on the PCB.
The two pin link near to the RS485 terminal
block should be shorted to use the on-board
120 ohm terminating resistor.
Notes.
1. Serial ports are available when programming in dScript
