Routine Preventive Maintenance
This chapter describes some of the maintenance items listed in the maintenance
interval tables. The daily instructions apply to routine or daily starting of the
engine. For basic engine maintenance procedures which can be performed by the
operator, Refer to section "How To Procedures".

• Inspection of the Air Intake System
• Inspection of the Turbocharger and Charge Air Cooler

Inspection of the Aftertreatment System
Inspection of the Aftertreatment System
Inspect the Aftertreatment System (ATS) as recommended using the appropriate
engine duty cycle, Refer to section "Preventive Maintenance Tables".
Inspect the aftertreatment system as follows:
1. Check the aftertreatment and exhaust pipes for damage or restrictions.
2. Inspect the aftertreatment inlet and outlet pipes for leaks.
3. Inspect the aftertreatment for signs of fluid leaks.
NOTE:
If any of the above conditions exist it may be necessary to take the
vehicle to an authorized Detroit™ service outlet.
