2 components can be connected to the elbow as required:
1 The long inlet pipe

• Connect the 3 pieces of the pipe (Q1, Q2, Q3) and then connect this inlet pipe to the elbow (M).
• Push the pre-bio foam (V) over the intake slot. This prevents small organisms (shrimps) from being sucked in and ex-
tends the cleaning intervals.
2 Skimmer

• Insert a piece of the inlet pipe (Q1) onto the elbow (M) and connect this piece of the inlet pipe and the skimmer with
the aid of the TPR elbow pipe (T).
3.1.2 Assembly of the outlet side
• Assemble the outlet side in the same way with the TPR elbow pipe (T) and the elbow (M) and secure the connections
with the plastic nuts (L).
• Connect the short TPR elbow pipe (N) to the elbow (M).
You have 3 options for the outlet opening:
1
The
spray bar
consisting of the two tubes (P1) and (P2) and the stopper (P4). This gives a flat flow of water.

2
The adjustable
ball-and-socket outlet
consisting of the flow restrictor (FR), the TPR elbow pipe (N) and the outlet
(O). This results in a directed flow of water.

3
The
outlet port
(P3). This gives a gentle flow of water.

3.1.3 Attachment of the filter
• Push the levelling foot (E) into the recess at the bottom of the filter housing.
• Slot the bottom openings of the two hangers (U1) onto the upper cover. Hang the filter onto the side of the aquarium
with the hangers.

• Fit the suction cups (R) and the clips (S1, S2) together. Fasten the components for the intake and outlet side (skimmer,
spray bar etc.) in the aquarium with the clips provided.
3.2 Operation with filter placed next to the aquarium

• Fit the two hoses (X) on the intake/outlet side of the filter and secure them with the plastic nuts (L).
• The hoses are connected with the elbow (M) and secured with the plastic nuts (L).
• The other components on the intake side (inlet pipe or skimmer) and the outlet side (spray bar, ball-and-socket outlet or
outlet port) are to be connected to these elbows as described under 3.1.
• Place the filter beside or behind the aquarium if possible.
Please do not place the filter more than 60 cm below the aquarium as the maximum lifting height will otherwise be
exceeded. Hose clips (Y) should be used at the edges of the aquarium.
4 Start-up
Turn the knob for filling water (K) to the left and remove it.
• Fill the filter with water
쐅
, replace the knob and turn it all the way to the right.
• Plug the filter into the mains to start it.
5 Setting the skimmer
• The skimmer allows the ratio of surface water to sub-surface water to be set:
- To increase inflow of water from the
surface
: Turn the floating cage
in anti-clockwise direction
.
쐈
- To increase inflow of water from
aquarium
: Turn skimmer
in clockwise direction
.
쐉
• The buoyancy of the floating cage is adjusted with the black setting ring
씈
Opening in floating cage completely closed: Maximum buoyancy.
-
Opening in floating cage completely open: Minimum buoyancy.
You should always start with maximum buoyancy and only gradually reduce it if needed.
The ideal setting for the skimmer is when the water level in the tube of the float is approximately 1-2 cm below the set-
ting ring (as seen from outside).

6 Cleaning and care
6.1 Cleaning the filter
• Clean the filter with a soft cloth. Any scale residues can be removed with a damp cloth. Then dry the filter. Do not use
any cleaning agents containing soap or solvents.
6.2 Cleaning and replacement of the filter material
• To ensure an optimum flow of water the filter media should be regularly cleaned.
• Unplug the filter from the mains.
Remove the components on the inlet and outlet side at the elbow (M) – these stay in the aquarium. The filter can now be
moved.
씊
• Open the four buckles (F1, F2) and remove the upper cover.
씋
• Take out the filter element and remove the lid by pressing the clips.
씌
The two filter cups can be separated from one another in the same way. The preliminary filtering materials in the lower
filter cup (bio foam and fine filter pad) should be washed out with aquarium water every time the filter is cleaned, or re-
placed if necessary . The Bio FilterTubes in the top filter cup that are responsible for biological cleaning only need to be
cleaned if they are obviously clogged up. We recommend washing the FilterTubes in aquarium water so as not to affect
the performance of the filter bacteria.
• Replace the filter cups in the right order (bio foam at the bottom, FilterTubes at the top) and replace the lid.
Replace the upper cover so that the air intake nozzle of the pump fits in the opening of the lid.
Close the 4 buckles and start the filter as described under point 4.
