4. Press the

icon: after a few seconds, hot water is delivered
from the coffee spouts to clean and heat the appliance’s in-
ternal circuit.
Please note!
• To stop delivery at any time, press any icon.
• If the appliance is not used for more than 3-4 days, when
switched on again, we strongly recommend performing
2/3 rinses before use.
8.2 Descaling

8.3 Install filter
For instructions on how to install the filter, see section “15.

8.4 Replacing the filter (if installed)
For instructions on how to replace the filter, see section “15.2
Replacing the filter”.
8.5 Adjust time
To adjust the time on the display (B3), proceed as follows:
1. Press the icon (B2) to enter the menu.
2. Press (B4) or (B5) (fig. 7) until “Adjust time” is
displayed.
3. Press the OK icon (B1) (fig. 4). The hours flash on the
display.
4. Press or to change the hour.
5. Press the
OK
icon to confirm. The minutes flash.
6. Press or to change the minutes.
7. Press the
OK
icon to confirm.
This sets the time. Press the icon to exit the menu.
8.6 Auto-start
You can set the auto-start time in order to have the appliance
ready at a certain time (for example in the morning) so you can
make coffee immediately.
Please note!
To enable this function, the time must already be set correctly.
To enable auto-start, proceed as follows:
1. Press the
icon (B2) to enter the menu.
2. Press (B4) or (B5) (fig. 7) until “Auto-start”
appears on the display (B3).
3. Press the

icon (B1) (fig. 4). “Enable?” is displayed.

icon to confirm.
5. Press or to choose the hour.
6. Press the OK icon to confirm.

• You should customise water hardness as soon as possible
following the instructions in section “14. Setting water
hardness”.
1. Connect the appliance to the mains electricity supply and
make sure the main switch (A16) at the back of the appli-
ance is pressed down (fig. 1).
2. Remove the water tank (A20) (fig. 2), open the lid (A22) (fig.
3), fill to the MAX line with fresh water, replace the lid and
put the tank back in the appliance.
You must first choose the language by moving backwards and
forwards with the
(B4) or (B5) icon, or waiting
until the languages scroll through on the display (B3) at inter-
vals of about 3 seconds:
3. When “English” appears, press and hold the
OK
icon (B1)
(fig. 4) for a few seconds until “English set” appears on the
display.
Follow the instructions indicated on the appliance display:
4. “HOT WATER, Press OK”: place a container with a minimum
capacity of 100 ml under the cappuccino maker (A8) (fig. 5).
5. Press the OK icon to confirm (fig. 4). The appliance delivers
water from the spout then goes off automatically.
The coffee machine is now ready for normal use.
Please note :
• The first time you use the appliance, you need to make 4-5
cups of coffee before the appliance starts to give satisfac-
tory results.
• To enjoy your coffee even more and improve the perfor-
mance of your appliance, we recommend installing a
water softener filter (C4) as described in section “15. Water
softener filter (*certain models only)”. If your model is not
provided with a filter, you can request one from De’Longhi
Customer Services.
6. TURNING THE APPLIANCE ON
Please note!
• Before turning the appliance on, make sure the main
switch (A16) is pressed (fig. 1).
• Each time the appliance is turned on, it performs an auto-
matic preheat and rinse cycle which cannot be interrupted.
The appliance is ready for use only after completion of this
cycle.
Danger of burns!
During rinsing, a little hot water comes out of the coffee spouts
(A10) and is collected in the drip tray (A14). Avoid contact with
splashes of water.
• To turn the appliance on, press the button (A5) (fig.
6). The message “Heating up Please wait” appears on the
display (B3).
When heating is complete, the message changes to “Rinsing”. As
well as heating the boiler, this also heats the internal circuits by
circulating hot water.
The appliance is at temperature when the message indicating
the taste and quantity of coffee appears.
7. TURNING THE APPLIANCE OFF
Whenever the coffee machine is turned off after being used to
make coffee, it performs an automatic rinse cycle.
Danger of burns!
During rinsing, a little hot water flows from the coffee spouts
(A10). Avoid contact with splashes of water.
• To turn the appliance off, press the
button (A10) (fig.
6).
• The message “Turning off Please wait” appears on the dis-
play (B3), then the appliance performs a rinse cycle and
goes off (standby).
Please note!
If you will not be using the appliance for some time, unplug
from the mains socket:
• first turn the appliance off by pressing the
button
(fig. 6);
• Press the main switch (A16) on the side of the appliance
(fig. 1).
Important!
Never press the main switch while the appliance is on.
8. MENU SETTINGS
8.1 Rinsing
Use this function to deliver hot water from the coffee spouts
(A10) to clean and heat the appliance’s internal circuit.
Place a container with a minimum capacity of 100ml under the
coffee spout.
To enable the function, proceed as follows:
1. Press the icon (B2) to enter the menu.
2. Press (B4) or (B5) (fig. 7) until “Rinsing” ap-
pears on the display (B3).
3. Press the
OK
icon (B1) (fig. 4) to confirm, “Confirm?” is
displayed.
Important! Danger of burns.
Do not leave the appliance unattended while hot water is being
delivered.
