Power cycle DS60 shelves
About this task
To make sure that the shelf firmware is updated properly, power cycle DS60 shelves after installing them. Complete the
following tasks to power cycle the shelves.

Steps
1. Run the
system poweroff
command to shutdown the Data Domain system.
2. Remove all AC power cords from all DS60 shelves for 30 seconds.
3. Reconnect the AC power cords to the DS60 shelves and wait five minutes for the shelves to power up and stabilize.
4. Power on the Data Domain system
5. Log back in as a sysadmin user.
Add a new disk pack to an existing DS60
If necessary, complete the following tasks to add a new disk pack to an existing DS60 shelf. It is not necessary to remove power
from the disk shelf before adding new disks.
Locate the target enclosure in the rack
About this task
Illuminate the LED beacon to identify the physical location of the target enclosure.
Steps
Illuminate the LED beacon on the target enclosure.
Run the following command:
enclosure beacon 2
Identify the first empty disk pack in the target enclosure
About this task
The DS60 contains four disk packs. Each disk pack is a 15 disk grouping, three disks wide by five disks deep. Identify the disk
pack where the new disks will be installed.
Steps
Display the enclosures and disks installed on the system.
NOTE:
In the output below, row A is located at the front of the chassis. The DS60 has color coded markings on the front
and rear lips of the disk bay to identify each disk pack.
Run the following command:
disk show state
The drive slot/locations are marked on the chassis 0-59, but the OS software still references the slots as 1-60. It is important to
identify the proper drive between the location called out in the FRU, and the location as specified in the software.
