Reviewing the Startup Display
Table 6–3 describes the startup display in more detail.
Table 6–3 Startup Display Information
Item
Description
CPU
Lists the revision level of the system board, the firmware
revision numbers and the type of processor.
ASIC
Status of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) on the
system board and on the I/O board.
MEM
Total amount of memory and its status.
NVR
Status of non-volatile RAM and time-of-year (TOY) component.
SCC
Status of the Serial Communication Controller, which includes
the keyboard and mouse tests.
NI
Status of the Ethernet network interface (NI).
SCSI
Status of SCSI bus.
ISDN
Status of ISDN/Audio chip.
TC0
Status of TURBOchannel device(s). There are six
TURBOchannel slots available: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. This
example indicates one TURBOchannel device installed in slot
0.
Startup Errors
If you see any error messages on the startup display screen, see
Chapter 13 for more information.
The show
Commands
The
show
console commands test your system and display
the status of its components, memory modules, and optional
devices. The
show config
command lists the status of system
components, revisions, and installed TURBOchannel options.
The
show device
command lists the status of the Ethernet
interface and any optional devices, such as SCSI internal disk
drives. For information about using these commands and
interpreting the results, see Chapter 13.
If You Have a
Server
Ensure that the server environmental variable is set to on. See
Chapter 10 for more information.
