5.2 Visual inspection
Make sure that the monitor is switched to standby.
Disconnect the mains power cord from the frame unit.
If the monitor is connected onto S/5 Network with a Mon-Net cable, disconnect the cable from the
frame unit. Leave the WLAN antenna card connected, if the Wireless LAN option is installed.
Remove any memory cards, if connected.
1. Check all units visually:
- all parts are intact
- all screws are tightened properly
- the display unit locking screw is in a locking position
- modules go in smoothly and lock up properly in all module slots
- a sampling line is connected to a Compact Airway Module, if installed

CAUTION Ensure that the module is properly orientated (i.e. module release latch facing
downward) before insertion.
5.3 Functional inspection
5.3.1 General
1. Connect the mains power cord to the frame unit.
Check that the LED above the main switch is lit continuously (full charged batteries) or
periodically (charging batteries).
2. Switch the monitor on.
Check that the monitor starts up properly, i.e. the alarm LEDs and the display unit fan turn on
shortly, normal start-upsound is heard from the loudspeaker and monitoring screen appears.
No error messages should appear onto the screen.
3. Enter the service menu.
Check that the ‘Timeouts ’, ‘Bad checksums ’ and ‘Bad c-s by mod ’ values of installed
modules are not increasing faster than by 5 per second. Check also that the modules’
memories have passed the internal memory test, i.e.‘RAM ’, ‘ROM ’ and ‘EEPROM ’ all state
OK. If the recorder unit is installed, the unit should record two lines of start-up information.
