12. Installing the dialler

12.1 Choosing the best place to install the dialler

12.2 Testing the GSM network reception level

Installation rules

Place the dialler:

• inside the home in a place that is protected by the alarm

system,

• hidden from prying eyes,
• on a flat and rigid surface,
• over 2 m away from the control panel, internal and external

alarm sirens and other radio repeater relays belonging to the
DAITEM range,

• far away from any sources of electromagnetic disturbance

(electricity meter or switchboard, telephone box, hi-fi
equipment, household appliances, computers, etc.)

• with its front face clear of any obstacles and easily accessible

(the microphone and loudspeaker must not be obstructed).

Never place the dialler:

• on a metal wall,
• in a damp room (906-21X harsh environment cover available in

catalogue).

For the dialler to operate properly:

• never leave extra wiring inside the box,
• do not wind the cable around the box.

IMPORTANT: do not fix the dialler in place before performing the GSM network and radio repeater relay tests.

The GSM dialler has a built-in antenna for transmitting data to the
GSM network. It is essential to test the reception level to
determine the best place to install the dialler. If the tests are not
satisfactory, an external antenna can be installed (see 12.4).

1.

Position the GSM dialler in the place where it is to be installed.

2.

Proceed as follows:

For these signal levels, it is advisable to move
the dialler to a different place in order to obtain
a better GSM signal reception.
