Crystal Vision
Using Safire 3
Notice how the model’s top now appears purple as suppression has removed
some blue from it, but this can be improved by minimising the FG
Acceptance
angle:
This an area where
Multiply Foreground
mode can sometimes be
advantageous. De-selecting
Suppress Foreground
ensures that there can be no
colour change to foreground objects of similar colour to the backdrop.
Background Key
The key that cuts the hole in the new BG is derived from
Key
Hue
in the Hue &
Balance menu and Chroma Key
Acceptance
in the Gain & Spill menu, and
modified by the Chroma Key controls,
Min Clip
and
Max Clip
. The
Key Hue
and
Acceptance
controls are independent of those that produce Foreground
suppression and are automatically set by Auto Setup, but may need adjusting.
The following picture is the Output Key signal produced by Auto Setup. This is the
level of quality of key to aim for: solid blacks and whites with no noise and fine
detail retained.
