8.4 Installation 

The two types of switch system are switch systems with an optional cabinet and switch systems 
without an optional cabinet. 

8.4.1 

Switch System with an Optional Cabinet

 

A 23x36x72 inch (Width x Depth x Height) cabinet is available as an option. The switch assembly 
and all the amplifiers are assembled in the cabinet for integration test. The amplifiers are shipped 
in a separate container while the switch assembly remains in the cabinet in another crate. The 
installation is straight forward by following guidelines listed below and the amplifier’s manual. 
1.

 

Locate the cabinet on site to the desired location. 

2.

 

The system RF output location is shown on the assembly drawing (01036171 for 1:1 switch). 

3.

 

Secure the cabinet bottom plate to the floor with 3/8-16 screws. 

4.

 

Connect the cabinet ground to the station ground. 

5.

 

Make prime power at terminal board TB1 per amplifier’s requirement. 

6.

 

Make system RF output connection with the gasket and hardware provided in the ship kit. 

7.

 

If the mating flange to the system output should be a cover, use a flat gasket. 

8.

 

If the mating flange is the grooved type the user should prepare a full thickness gasket (not 
provided by CPI). 

9.

 

Remove all the packing material inside the cabinet. 

10.

 

Install the amplifiers into slide locations. 

11.

 

Make waveguide flange connections with the gaskets and hardware in the ship kit. 

12.

 

Verify that the all cables from the SIM controller are connected per diagram 01036175. 

8.4.2 

Switch System Without An Optional Cabinet

 

The user will have to review the layout of the switch assembly by itself as shown on sheet 2/4 of 
the assembly drawing. Determine where to install the amplifier slides, RF load bracket and switch 
mounting brackets in the user’s cabinet. The RF input isolators are preferably installed on the top 
cover. Use the above steps 2 to 4 to complete the installation.
