4.1 Overview
Each Indoor SSPA is configured and thoroughly tested at the factory. Once the Indoor SSPA is
installed it should be monitored at initial power on to ascertain that it still functions properly.
This chapter describes procedures for pre-power on, control panel operation, power on, and
checkout.
4.2 Pre-Power on Procedure
Before applying prime AC power to the Indoor SSPA, verify that the following conditions are
met:
1.
AC prime power is 100 - 240 VAC ±10%, 47-63 Hz, as indicated by the label located on the
back panel, and single phase.
2. The rear panel circuit breaker switch is turned off.
3. All connections are tight, no wires are pinched, and no hardware
have been loosened during
shipment or handling.
4. The AC power cord is connected to J1, but the AC power is not turned on.
5. A ground strap is connected from the station's ground bus to the 10-32 threaded ground
stud hole located on the amplifier rear panel.
6. The RF Input (J2) is connected to a matched source. RF input power is off and is set no
higher then –15dBm or 0.032mW.

The RF output
(J3)
is properly terminated with a load with a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) not
exceeding 1.5:1.
8. There is at least 4 inches of clearance at the front and rear of the amplifier and the fan and
exhaust are not blocked.
Caution: Failure to verify these pre-power conditions may damage the
SSPA or cause it to malfunction. Operating the equipment before verifying
these items may void the warranty.
4.3 Using the Control Panel
The Indoor SSPA is controlled and monitored using the control panel. The front panel display
provides textual and pictographic information back to the user and can only be operated when
the SSPA is in local mode. The

/
DOWN
and
LEFT
/
RIGHT
keypad buttons can be used to
