2.6.5 Waveguide Connections
Note: Waveguide pressurization with dry air or nitrogen in the range of 0.5
to 1.0 PSI (referenced to atmosphere at sea level) is recommended on all
SSPA’s.
The output waveguide flange of the Indoor SSPA is located on the rear panel and labelled J3. J3
is a threaded waveguide flange. An o-ring gasket is supplied in the ship kit. Refer to figure 2-2
for waveguide flange tightening sequences and table 2-2 for recommended screw torque.
To install the waveguide flange, proceed as follows:
•
Install the o-ring gasket supplied in the ship kit to the output flange of the Indoor SSPA.
• Position the interconnecting waveguide so that it aligns precisely with the waveguide flange
at the rear of the IDU SSPA.
Note: If flange alignment is not precise or if the installation is subject to
motion or severe vibration, a flexible waveguide section should be installed
between the output of the IDU SSPA and the interconnecting waveguide.
WARNING! IF THE WAVEGUIDE IS NOT ATTACHED PROPERLY, RF RADIATION
WILL LEAK OUT AND CREATE AN OPERATIONAL SAFETY HAZARD.
WARNING! DO NOT OPERATE THE SSPA WITHOUT A WAVEGUIDE OR AN RF
LOAD CONNECTED TO THE RF OUTPUT PORT. NEVER LOOK INTO THE
WAVEGUIDE OPENING WHEN THE SSPA IS POWERED ON.
