10. Cleaning and Care
The Corning MicroDEN
unit is compatible with 70% ethanol and 10% bleach
solution. Lightly spray the unit with 70% ethanol to disinfect before placing
in the biosafety cabinet. After use, the unit can be cleaned with 70% ethanol
or 10% bleach solution. The unit should be stored upright in a cool, dry
environment when not in use.
11. Troubleshooting
Symptom Solution
The unit does not turn on.
Ensure the power cord is fully inserted into the
unit and wall outlet. A green light will illuminate
on the AC converter of the power cord when it is
plugged in properly.
Liquid does not properly
Inspect tubing and connections to ensure
perfuse.
everything is connected.
Check the filters. If the filters become wetted
during use, they may not allow gas exchange,
which would cause the bottles to pressurize and
liquid to not perfuse properly.
Filters supplied with the consumables can be
replaced with a new 0.2 µm sterile filter with a
male Luer Lock.
Ensure the tubing is properly placed in the pump.
The pump has guides that keep the tubing in
place. Tubing should be placed in the center of
these guides when the pump is clamped.
Liquid perfuses backwards. Switch the tubing orientation so the tubing
coming from the left side inlet bottle enters the
left side of the pump. The colored marker on the
tubing should be to the left of each pump and
match the colored flag next to each pump head
(Figure 2).
NOTE:
Placing the tubing so the colored marker is
on the right side of the pump will cause liquid to
perfuse backwards.
