Step 3 Installing the Hardware
Windows needs to detect the I/O address and interrupt used by the PC card. This is called hardware
installation.
When using more than one PC card, install the PC cards one at a time and do not install the next PC
card until setup is complete for the previous PC card.
Turning on the PC
(1) Insert the PC card into the card slot on the PC.
(2) Turn on the power to your PC.
If using Windows XP, 2000, Me, 98, or 95, see the "When Using API-AIO(WDM)" or "When Using
API-AIO(98/PC)" section. If using Windows NT, see "PC Card Configuration Settings".
CAUTION
-
The PC card cannot be properly installed unless the resources (I/O addresses and interrupt level) for
the PC card can be allocated. Before attempting to install the PC card, first determine what PC
resources are free to use.
-
The resources used by each PC card do not depend on the location of the PCI bus slot or the PC
card itself. If you remove two or more PC card s that have already been installed and then
remount one of them on the computer, it is unknown that which one of the sets of resources
previously assigned to the two PC cards is assigned to the remounted PC card. In this case, you
must check the resource settings.
When Using API-AIO(WDM)
(1) The “Add New Hardware Wizard” will be started.
Select “Specify the location of the driver”, then click on the [Next] button.
