If caller audio is sent back to the callers, the effect will be echo in the
caller’s ear, or even feedback if the level is too high.
Modern audio consoles can typically provide this special mix for you using
either a specialized
Mix-Minus Module
or an
Auxiliary Telephone Bus
.
Alternately, you can sometimes use a second, undedicated bus within your
console (often called
Aux
or
Audition
) to create this mix. If you have a
console with none of these capabilities, you will need to either make cus-
tom modifications to your console, use host microphone audio as mix-mi-
nus, or (as a last resort) use the
Auto Mix-Minus
feature of the STAC.
This is the simplest arrangement for generating mix-minus for the STAC.
As shown in Figure 2A, simply arrange the
Mix-Minus Bus
to provide all
audio in the console except for the incoming callers. Feed this bus to the
STAC as a mix-minus. In Figure 2B on page 40, the system is shown using
the
Audition Bus
on a console.
