Server Configuration and Utilities
Compaq provides tools to assist you in the configuration and management of
your Compaq ProLiant 6400R server. This chapter discusses Compaq
SmartStart and the Compaq System Configuration Utility, which includes
Diagnostics and Utilities.
For more information, refer to the Documentation CD.
Compaq SmartStart
SmartStart is the intelligent way to configure the server and to load the system
software, thereby achieving a well-integrated server that ensures maximum
dependability and supportability.
NOTE: Until you run the System Configuration program, an information message
indicating that you are running with a default configuration will occur each time you boot
the system. See “Powering Up Your Server” in Chapter 2 for more details.
The first time the server is configured, the SmartStart and Support Software
CD automatically creates a system partition and installs the Compaq System
Configuration Utility, ROMPaq, and other Compaq utilities in that partition.
IMPORTANT: Do not confuse the Compaq system utilities partition with the partitions
created by your operating system.
