4.7.2 REMOTE-UNIT COMMISSIONING
Commissioning Tasks
Observation
On-line & inquiry status
z
Enter into the Main window. Click ‘online’ button to access the
repeater’s status. Go to next step if there is no alarm. Else
check the point of failure and proceed to clear the alarm.
z
Set remote-unit site ID and telephone number
Test remote-unit DL
output power and align
service antenna
z
Observe DT port received signal level from ‘RF Parameters’.
z
Adjust downlink gain so that the output power could achieve the
design requirement.
z
Use cellular test-phone to verify signal reception within the
coverage area.
z
If needed, re-align the 1800MHz link antenna to maximize the
DL output power reading.
Adjust UL gain and
conduct test-call
z
Configure the uplink gain to be several dB lower than the
downlink gain.
z
Conduct test-calls within the coverage area and iteratively
adjust the optimal uplink gain value.
z
Note 1: In application of more than one remote-units, ensure the
uplink noise level of each remote-unit is identical at the master-
unit, otherwise coverage will not be maximized.
z
Note 2: Uplink noise of master-unit will effect on the BTS
receiver sensitivity. Since the point-to-multipoint distribution
system expands the coverage, the original sector coverage of
BTS will need to be changed.
z
Note 3: To reduce uplink noise figure, adjust uplink master ATT
and channel ATT of master-unit and remote-unit. (see tables
below)
